Lengthy and Touching Letter - Handwritten and Signed by the Famed Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Weltz Rosh Av Beit Din of Budapest - Jerusalem, 1950 - Lengthy letter with Divrei Torah with a touching foreword - handwritten and signed twice by the famed Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Weltz Rosh Av Beit Din of Budapest - addressed to the Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Halevi Herzog - Jerusalem, 1950.  At the beginning of his letter, Rabbeinu describes his escape from Hungary and the hardships he faced as a refugee in Israel: ”ועכשיו גלגל החוזר בעולם עבר גם עלי בעוה”ר ממדינת הונגריה לא הניחו להוציא שום ערך או כסף אף לא אוצר הספרים שלי - ועתה אין אני יודע לאיפה לפנות ואל מי מקדושים... אחרי התלאות וטלטולי דגברא והרפתקאות שעברו על ראשי מני אז שצר הצורר בא אל מדינתי הקודמת והפילני מאגרי רמא... ואמר החכם ההכרח לא יגונה אף כי לא ישובח...”  Rabbeinu modestly ends this part of the letter with an original signature: ”אדם מועט לעולם ישראל וועלץ” . On the next pages, Rabbeinu writes a lengthy Pipul on whether a deaf man who can speak can Lehotzi others. This part is signed by Rabbeinu with ”ישראל וועלץ מלפנים ראב”ד דק”ק פעסט וכעת בירושת”ו...”.   Three leaves, four written pages.  22X22.5 cm.  Good condition.  The Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Weltz (1887-1974) a disciple of the Shevet Sofer in Pressburg, Rosh Av Beit Din of Budapest during the Holocaust and later a Moreh Hora'ah in Jerusalem. Author of Shut Divrei Yisrael 3 sections. Was famed as a Matir Agunot. Was buried close to the gravesite of the Admor Rabbi Aharon of Belz.
