Broadside for Electing the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Harlap as Chief Rabbi - with PIctures of Rabbi Harlap and Maran HaRav Kook - Jerusalem, 1937 - Propaganda broadside for electing the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Harlap as Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisrael -  with pIctures of Rabbi Harlap and Maran HaRav Kook - Beit Dfus Leumi Yerushalayim - Jerusalem, 1937.  Background: In 1935, the Chief Rabbi, Maran the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook, the founder of the Chief Rabbinate in Eretz Yisrael, passed away. Approx. two years after his passing, elections were held for the position of Chief Rabbi, the candidates being Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Harlap, the Rosh Yeshiva of Merkaz HaRav, and the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Halevi Herzog, who eventually won the elections with the support of Maran the Chazon Ish.  The broadside indicates the position of Rabbi Harlap's supporters, who saw him being elected as an opportunity to bridge the two parties - that of Rav Kook and that of HaEidah HaChareidit.  ”בוחר בחר בהרב חרל”פ לרב ראשי לארץ ישראל כי אתו השלום, ורוח ישראל על טהרתה”.
