Polemic: Kinat Zion and Torat Hakana'ut [Work against Reform Jews] - Amsterdam, 1846 - Sefer Kinat Zion, by Rabbi Yisrael Moshe Chazan [Mashi'ach - a Shali'ach of Jerusalem to Europe and later a Rav in Rome, Corfu and Alexandria] against the conference of the Reform Jews in Braunschweig, Germany, with letters by leading rabbis of Eretz Yisrael and the Diaspora and at its end, Sefer Torat Hakana'ut (like most copies, this copy is without the cover - Sefer Torat Hakana'ut had two editions that were printed in Amsterdam - 1845, one as a separate book with a cover title and additional leaves and the other, as an appendix to Sefer Kinat Zion, like this copy) - Amsterdam, 1846.  Background : In Tamuz 1844, the first conference of Reform Jews was held in Braunschweig, Germany, announcing ”changes” in the Halacha and the Siddur. In response, the leaders of the Pekidim and Amarkalim of Amsterdam sent letters to leading contemporary rabbis, gathering their response letters.  The Shali'ach of Jerusalem to Europe, Rabbi Yisrael Moshe Chazan, who was then in Amsterdam, authored this book titled Kinat Zion, railing against the Reform Jews and their intent to make Halachic changes. He included the letters by the leading rabbis of Eretz Yisrael in his book. The Pekidim and Amarkalim of Amsterdam published Chazan's book and as an appendix, published the response letters by Gedolei Hador titling them Torat Kana'ut. The writers of the letters include among others the Rashar Hirsch, Rabbi Yehuda Assad, Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum - the Yitav Lev, the Maharam Esh, Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer - the Ketav Sofer and more.  [1], 17; 2-33 leaves.
