Rare! Fine Copy: Seder Tefillot Mikol Hashanah with the Beer Chaim Elucidation - with Igeret HaGra and Reference to Rabbi Yisrael Salanter in His Lifetime - First Edition Vilna, 1878 - ”Seder Tefillot Mikol Hashanah, with Derech Hachaim by Rabbi Yaakov Loberbaum of Lisa and added to it as many good Hanhagot and Chidushei Dinim ... and Mussar Haskel... and Tochacha by the author of Chovat Halevavot and Igeret HaGra. With a new elucidation based on Pshat and Drush, titled Beer Chaim...”. The elucidation by Rabbi Dober Zeev Wolf Lifshitz ben Rabbi Chaim Lifshitz Av Beit Din of Srednik. First and apparently only edition. The Press of Rabbi Yehuda Leib Metz, Vilna - 1878. Originally, 2 title pages; in this copy, only the second one appears. [2], 4-252 leaves. 21 cm. Fine old binding with an embossed leather spine., with some moth perforations. Stains and taping to title page. Good overall condition.  The importance of the Siddur and its uniqueness Siddur, Ashkenaz version, based on the custom of HaGra, including the prayers for the days of the week and Sabbath, Amidot for Shalosh Regalim, Rosh Hashana and Yom KIppur, Hoshanot, Yotzrot and Selichot for Mondays and Thursdays and Ta'aniyot. The Siddur is adorned with approbations by Rabbi Meir Leibush - the Malbim, Rabbi Alexander Moshe Lapidot and Rabbi Hillel Aryeh Leib Lifshitz of Sovalk. In his Beer Chaim elucidation, the author quotes varied commentaries by the leading rabbis of Lithuania headed by HaGra. On leaf 31, he refers to Rabbi Yisrael Lipkin Salanter: ”כאשר האריך בזה אדמו”ר הגאון הצדיק ר' ישראל שיחיה...” . To the best of our knowledge, this is the only Siddur in the world introducing a commentary by the founder of the Mussar Movement in his lifetime. Introduced in Seder Asseret Yemei Teshuva (leaf 177b-179) is Igeret HaGra (also known as Alim Litrufah) . This edition was not listed in the list of Igrot HaGra in Otzar Sifrei HaGra and the Siddur is also not mentioned there.
