Ancient Pewter Seder Plate with an Engraving after the Painter Alphonse Levy - Late 19th Century / Early 20th Century - Beautiful and extraordinary item: a plate with an engraving of a Jewess cooking in a kitchen after a painting by Alphonse Levy, the painter of the Alsace Jews. Engraving around the rim of the plate are the words 'פסח מצה לנעפפליש'. Hallmarks on verso of the plate. See: Alsace Jewry, published by the Israel Museum, 1991, lot 40.
