Sefer Yesod! The First Passover Haggadah with Copper-Engravings and which Includes the Famed Map - Amsterdam, 1695 - Seder Haggadah shel Pesach with many copper-engraved illustrations and important commentaries. Actually, this Haggadah is the first that contained many copper-engravings beautifully depicting biblical scenes throughout the Haggadah. In addition, at its end there is a folding plate containing the Map of Eretz Yisrael with the order of the division of the land to the Tribes. This map is one of the first Hebrew maps and was made by the Ger Tzeddek Avraham ben Yaakov, who was a Christian preacher who converted to Judaism in Amsterdam. His works left a significant mark on the Hebrew book; yet undoubtedly, the most well-known of them is this map, which was inspired by the Map of Canaan by Christian van Adrichom.  The Press of Asher Anshil ben Eliezer Chazan and Yissachar ber ben Avraham Eliezer - Amsterdam, 1695. Two title pages, the first with a spectacular copper-engraved illustration of Moshe and Aharon and special unique biblical events: Avraham and Malki Tzeddel, the destruction of Sodom, the generation of the Flood, Yaakov's Dream, Adam abd Eve and the generation of the Tower of Babel. In the Rare Book Collection of the National Library.  This Haggadah contains several commentaries: Ashkenazic translation of the Piyyutim Adir Huh, Echad Mi Yodea and Chad Gadya. An abbreviated version of the Abarbanel's Zevach Pesach commentary. The abbreviator's name was not mentioned; however, this abbreviation is unlike other known abbreviotions. Its last part is continued by another author who is defintiely not the ”Abarbanel”. Thic commentary was later printed many times. ”Peirush al pi Hasod” an abbreviation of the commentary by the Gaon Mekubal Rabbi Yeshaya Halevi Horowitz - the Shlah Hakadosh in his book Shnei Luchot Habrit.  This Haggadah with its commentaries, engravings and fine, meticulous pagination naturally served as the prototype of many following editions.
