Rare Museum Piece! Two Illuminated Sheets of Parchment from an Ashkenazic Machzor for Passover - ca. 14th Century! - Two handwritten sheets of parchment from an Ashkenazic Machzor for Passover - scribal script on parchment - with illustrations of dragons and plant motifs - ca. 14th century.  Two sheets containing 8 pages - Piyyutim for Shacharit and Aravit of the seventh and eighth days of Passover. The Piyyutim include the following: תלמיד לומד ומלמדו, לוכדו פני תהומות, אויבים נחלקו לכתות, מי ים סוף הוצפו, שליט חסין ונורא, the beginning of the Piyyut תהום זרקן ליבשת and more.  There are minor lingual variations compared to what appears in the Goldschmidt Machzor.  Appearing on the two sheets are decorations with red of mythical creatures and plant motifs.  The sheets were ripped in the past from the complete Machzor and were used as binding. Their physical condition is relatively reasonable considering their age and they are complete with almost no damage to text, although they are browned.  A special item whose value and significane are impossible to determine. If we had the complete manuscript, it would have compared in its significance to the famed Sarajevo or Kaufmann Haggadahs!!! Sheet !: 26.3X40.3 cm.  Sheet II: 26.5X41.5 cm.  The external side of both sheets is dark, erased and hard to read.
