Letter by the Rashei Yeshiva the Grandsons of Maran the Chofetz Chaim - Radin, 1937 - וזכותו הגדול של מרן הגאון הקדוש בעל ה”חפץ חיים” זצוק”ל (the great merit of Maran the Gaon author of the Chofetz Chaim) - letter signed by the Geonim the Tzaddikim, the Rashei Yeshiva of the Chofetz Chaim in Radin - the Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Leib Levinson and Rabbi Eliezer Zeev Kaplan, Maran's grandson - Radin, 1937. In the letter, the Rashei Yeshiva express their gratitude to the philanthropist David Sussman for his support of the yeshiva, a donation to provide for the yeshiva students who could not return to their homes for Passover and were forced to remain in the Yeshiva, which took care of all their needs despite its difficult situation: ”ובפרט קודם החג הדרוש להוצאה מרובה להכין מצה ושאר צרכי החג בעד התלמידי חכמים העניים והגלמודים מביתם המוכרחים להשאר בהישיבה על החג ולפי מצבה הנורא של הישיבה עלה לנו הדבר בקושי גדול...”. The Rashei Yeshiva end their letter with blessings in merit of their grandfather, the founder of the yeshiva: ”ישלם ד' פעלו ותהי משכורתו שלמה מד' בזה ובבא וזכותו הגדול של מרן הגאון הקדוש בעל ה”חפץ חיים” זצוק”ל יעמוד לכתר”ה להתברך מאלקי השמים בחיים ושלום וכל טוב...”. The Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Leib Levinson (1890-1945) the son of the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Levinson, the Chofetz Chaim's son-in-law. Studied at the Kelm and Radin yeshivas. Married the daughter of the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Sapir Av Beit Din of Sortov. After his father's passing in 1921, Rabbeinu was appointed a Mashgiach at the Radin Yeshiva. Rabbeinu was one of the eulogizers of Maran the Chafetz Chaim in his funeral. He persihed in the Dachau camp during the Holocaust. The Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Zeev Kaplan , the son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Levinson and grandson of the Chofetz Chaim. Served as a Mashgiach at the Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva alongside his brother-in-law, the aforementioned Rabbi Yehoshua. Perished in the Holocaust.
