Extremley Rare! Poxket Tanya Given Directly by the Rebbe during a Yechidut - Tishrei 1978 - Sefer Hatanya Kadisha, pocket format, published by Kehat Brooklyn ”Asseret Yemei Tshuvah, 1978”. A special edition published by the Rebbe's orders. Some of its copies were signed  by the Rebbe (see below). [4], 2-228, [1] pp. Some stains. Very good overall condition.  This Sefer Tanya was given directly by the Rebbe to one of his followers in Israel during a Yechidut with the Rebbe in Tishrei 1978. Unlike the Chalukah of the large copies of this edition of the Tanya with the Rebbe's signature, which the Rebbe ordered to collect from the office, this pocket Tanya was given directly by the Rebbe  himself during a Yechidut, and it was not signed by him.  About this edition Tanya editions 123. There, he notes the changes made in this edition: ”The foreword was re-edited, appearing on two pages, based on no. 44 (with the addition of comment 74 the omission is some editions of the pocket format) in the list of Tanya manuscripts there is ”an additon after some time”, with a description of four ”additional manuscripts”.  On Av 23, 1978, during the Hitvaadus of Shabbat Mevarchim, the Rebbe instructed, for Elul 18, to reprint the Tanya in all countries in which the book was not yet published . Subsequently, efforts were made to publish a more accutrate edition of the Tanya. It turned out that the Tanya editon which the Rebbe himself edited in 1954 was the most accurate. This 1978 edition, which was based on the 1954 edition, then became the edition on which all following editions are based (see more: Hotza'at Sifriyat Kehat - Toldoteha, p. 452 and onwards).  This edition is also important due to the Rebbe's attitude towards it. Unusually, on the eve of Yom Kippur, after the Kaparot custom, the Rebbe instructed to print this edition and a larger format (which was later handed out with his signature), asking that it be submitted to him until Kol Nidrei (!). Since the members of the Vaad could not find a printer to do it on such short notice, they were forced to print the edition themselves. The Rebbe waited until he received a copy (which was not yet bound) by Rabbi Jacobson (see more in the book קאר א וועלט p. 16 and onwards).  About the Chalukah of the larger format of this edition ”At the end of Tishrei 1979, during the Yechiduyot for the guests, the Rebbe instructed the men to go to the office to receive a Tanya and the women - the Tehillat Hashem Siddur, as a souvenir from the month of Tishrei. These books were considered most precious since they contained the Rebbe's handwritten signature” (Mazkeret Netzach p. 7).
