The version of the familar Sefer Mussar known also as Torat Chovot Halevavot (originally, in Judeo-Arabic: kitab alhadayih ali farayid alqulub), an important Sefer Yesod and Mussar. Authored by Rabbeinu Bahya ben Yosef ibn Pekudah, who originally wrote it in Judeo-Arabic and was translated into Hebrew by Rabbi Yehuda ibn Tibbon. One of the earliesr Mussar books which to this day is the basis of Mussar books and doctrine . Stefansky Sifrei Yesod 458. ”Printed at the house of Daniel Bomberg, here in Venice”. The year of printign appears on the colophon: נדפס זה החבור להפקת רצון הלומדים תורת ה' בשנת ש”ח לפ”ק [1548]”. 88 leaves. Fine, complete copy. Aging stains. Some taping along the edges. Fine, old half-leather binding - slightly blemished in its spine. Very good overall condition. 2 glosses in Italian script - trimmed. Corrections and notations in several places. Dedication on the guard leaf: ”לידידו הנאמן החכם שלמה זלמן שטערן, מתנת שד”ל (החכם הנודע שמואל דוד לוצאטו) ר”ח אדר תרי”ג”. An important and extremely rare item!
