Set of Vowelized Mishnayot Published by Rabbi Menashe ben Yisrael - Prototype Edition of the Vowelized Mishnayot - Amsterdam, 1646 - Complete set of Shisha Sidrei Mishnah, vowelized - edited by the famed Gaon Rabbi Menasheh ben Yisrael, the Father of the Anusim, and Rabbi Avraham di leon - prototype edition of the vowelized Mishnayot - the Press of Yosef ben Menashe (Rabbi Menashe's son) - Amsterdam, 1646.  Rabbi Menashe ben Yisrael, one of the most famous rabbis in Jewish history. A descendant of a family of Anusim from Portugal. A polymath who, in addition to his religious knowledge, was fluent in many languages. He used all his skills to rescue and assist Jewish Anusim in Holland and England.  An important chapter of his life was his printing house, where he printed many books, mainly to assist the communities of Anusim, who required books that were easy to study and understand.  On this background, Rabbeinu edited the vowelization of these Mishnayot, together with his friend Rabbi Avraham di Leon, Mishnayot which became the protoype edition for all following ones. About two years earlier, a different edition of vowelized Mishnayot was published in Kushta; these Mishnayot, however, were not widely circulated and did not have following editions.  Two sections in two volumes (with two separate title pages)/  [1], 113; [114]-274 leaves.  New binding. Blemishes to title page of section I, professionally restored. Good condition.
