Important Museal Object! Manuscript of Prayers and Dinim pertaining to the Deceased - Unique, Prayers and Dinim that were not Published! India, the 19th Century - Important manuscript - for the study of customs and prayers and the study of remote Jewish communities - prayers, Hashkavot and Dinim pertaingin to the deceased and mourning - India, the 19th century - illustrated title page.  Most important manuscript! At the beginning of the work there are Dinim and customs pertaining to Bikkur Cholim, Livyat Hamet and Nichum Aveilim, which were never published! Later, there are rare prayers, Hashkavot for men, women and children. The version is that of the Jews of Kurdistan and Cochin, India, but with textual variations which are difficult to compare since there is not much written material on the subject (see: Mamrim - Tefillat Hameitim, Meir Bnayahu - Tadpis Misinai, volume 91, Nissan Iyar 1982).  In the Mi Shebeirach prayer, the following version appears: בעבור שיתן שודנה שמן למאור, או כך רפויא או כך שרפי. In Judeo-Persian, ”שודנה” means a jug, ”רפויא” the Inidan rupee and ”אשרפי” a coind that was common in the Ottoman Empire and Persia.  This is a unique manuscript. Scholars of eastern communities in general and those of India, Kurdistan and Persia in particular, will find in it many things that shed light on the customs of those almost extinct communities.  33 leaves. 13.5 cm.  New parchment binding. Some of the leaves are greenish. Good condition.
