Especially lengthy Letter Handwritten and Signed by Maran Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook. Not Published - Jerusalem, 1928 - Lengthy and warm letter of recommendation - handwritten and signed by Maran Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook the Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisrael - given to Rabbi Avraham Yosef Hertzfeld - Jerusalem, 1928.  Maran gave the letter to his beloved disciple, Rabbi Avraham Yosef Hertzfeld, the son of Rabbi Elyakim Hertzfeld the Rav of Godringen, Lithuania. HaRav Kook addresses his words to the Jews of the USA and Canada with a request to support his disciple, whom he has known since his youth: ”אשר מנעורים ידעתי את הבן היקר הזה... והיה באמנה אתי אח”כ בא”י בשבתי בעה”ק יפו ת”ו, ואחד המעולים שבצעירים הדוגלים בדגל התורה והדעת היהדות הנאמנה וחבת כל קודש ד' בישראל...”. To the best of our knowledge, this letter has never been published! Official stationert.  21X28 cm.  Fold lines. A small tear not affecting the text. Good condition.  Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook (1865-1935) the Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisrael, a Gaon and Mekubal, the founder of the Merkaz Harav Yeshiva and one of the forefathers of religious Zionism. The author of Sifrei Yesod and Rav of many Gedolei Yisrael. The addressee, Rabbi Avraham Yosef Hertzfeld (1890-1965) Rav Kook's disicple, a teacher at Tachkemon, one of the founders of HaMizrachi HaTza'ir and one of the foudners of the city of Bat Yam. The son of Rabbi Elyakim Hertzfeld the Rav of Godringen, Lithuania. Was the son-in-law of Rabbi Eliyahu Aharon Kahana, one of the prominent activists of Jaffa and one of the founders of Tel Aviv.
