Letter of Gratitude Handwritten and Signed by Maran Posek Hador the Author of the Igrot Moshe - New York, 1954 - ”Our friend and a friend of our late father's household from the time he was in Strabin” - touching letter by Maran the Posek Hador Rabbi Moshe Feinstein - addressed to his brother-in-law Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Shmuel - about showing gratitude to a friend of the family - with reference to Agudas Yisroel - New York, 1954.  Rabbeinu sent his letter to his brother-in-law Rabbi Shmuel, the son-in-law of his father Rabbi David Feinstein Av Beit Din of Strabin, about helping an acquaintance from the time he lived in Russia, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Reuven Hofman (Rabbi Yaakov Petrikover); some of his Divrei Torah were published in the book Mishe'erit Yaakov [Jerusalem, 1975]: אשר הוא עוד ידידנו וידיד בית אבא ז”ל מכבר מזמן היותו בסטראבין והיה הרבה שנים בא”י... ולכן תראו לקרבו בכל האפשרי בהיותו בשיקאגא להיות לו לאחיעזר ולאחיסמך לפני מכיריכם... וכם אולי יש להשיג עבורו איזה משרה... בכל אופן תראו לקרבו...” [Who is also our friend and a friend of our late father’s household from the time he was in Strabin, and he has been in the Eretz Yisrael for many years… Therefore, see to it that you support him in every possible way while he is in Chicago—to be for him a helper and a supporter among your acquaintances… and perhaps it will be possible to find some position for him… In any case, do your utmost to support him…).  Official stationery.  21X28 cm.  Fold lines. Good condition.  Maran the Posek the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Feinstein (1995-1986) the foremost Posk after the Holocaust. Was the chairman of Mo'etzet Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel in the USA, Rosh Metivta of Tiferet Yerushalayim and president of the Union of Rabbis of the USA and Canada. Authored the basic series of books Shut Igrot Moshe as well as Dibrot Moshe on the Shas. His coffin was brought to Israel and buried on Purim. Famed is his response to the claim that he has no ”Da'at Torah”. Rabbeinu, in Igrot Moshe, wrote that he never read a newspaper or book or anything else other than the Torah so how could he have an opinion that was not Torah?!
