Fine Manuscript on Parchment Ma'ariv and Kiddush Levanah Written as a Bar Mitzvah Gift - by the Scribe Eliezr Sussman Mezeritch - Frankfurt am Main, 1838 - Fine scribal script, ink on parchment, with an ornate title page, ”Tefillat Ma'ariv, with Kiddush Levanah, written as Bar Mitzvah gift to the Ben Yakir... Yehuda leib Niederhofheim on Shabbat Tu Bishvat Parashat Beshalach [1838] here in Frankfurt am Main, by Eliezr Sussman Mezeritch”. Fine, orderly and professional script with Teitch instructions.  The scribe Eliezr Sussman Mezeritch of Frankfurt am Main was known as an especially prolific and professional scribe. The master painter Moritz Daniel Oppenheim (1800-1882) referred to Mezeritch as “ the best Jewish calligrapher of his time ”. At least 12 different and important manuscripts are known by him, some of them housed in the National Library of Jerusalem and others in other important collections including the Braginsky Collection in Zurich. 2 of his manuscripts were auctioned by Kedem (catalogs 58 and 99) and by Sotheby's New York (the auctions in December 2010 and November 2019).  [10] leaves. Parchment. 13 cm. Stains and minor aging blemishes. A large open tear to leaf [3]. A single moth perforation throughout the leaves. In some places, the ink has slightly faded. Fine new fabric binding. Good overall condition.
