Fascinating Letter with Self-Rebuke Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky - London, 1945 - ”הנני עומד בתפלה ומתחנן שיהיה ה' למשען לי”  - fascinating letter with self-rebuke handwritten and signed by the famed Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky, the Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi yechezkel Sarna, the Rosh Yeshiva of Hebron. London, Cheshvan 1945.  At the beginning of the letter, the Gaon writes about sending an additional sum of money as he had promised in an earlier letter, stating he would be happy to add more if possible: ”כאשר הבטחתי במכתב הקודם... כמובן אם יבוא הדבר לידי להוסיף על זה, ישמח לבי גם אני”. Later, the Gaon writes about his daily schedule, words that indicate his modesty and desire to study Torah, combining words of Mussar and self-rebuke since he believes he is not dedicating enough time to the study of Torah: ”ידידי משער מחדושי תורתי... שהנני מגיד שעורים בישיבת עץ חיים תמידים כסדרם, לא כן הדבר ידידי. איש טרוד עיף ויגע, לא פחות משש שעות מדי יום ביומו... בנני עסוק בבית דין. ויש אשר בשובי הביתה קשה לי להגות בספר בעיון הראוי. דבר זה מרעיש את רוחי ונפשי, ובכל יום ויום לבי הומה על בטולה של תורה, ואז הנני עומד בתפלה ומתחנן שיהי' ה' למשען לי, וישיב אותי הנדח מעל שולחנו - שלחן התורה...”.   At the end of the letter, Rabbeinu asks his Gaon friend to send him books by his in-law, the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, the Rosh Yeshiva of Hebron.  Aerogram. Approx. 20X24 cm. Fold lines with a tear in the center not affecting the text. Filing holes not affecting the text with rust stains around them. Good overall condition.  Maran the Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky (1886-1976) author of the Chazon Yechezkel. Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka, leader of the Chareidi community after the Holocaust and one of the leaders of Mo'etezt Gedolei HaTorah. In 1923, Rabbeinu was appointed the Rav of Slutzk, replacing the Gaon Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, who escaped the Communists. Rabbeinu himself suffered from the KGB and in 1930 was sentenced to five years in Siberia. Following the pressure of Jews from all around the world, he was released and left the USSR for London. In his final years, he lived in Jerusalem. Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna - Rav Chetzkel (1890-1969) was the Rosh Yeshiva of Hebron Knesset Yisrael and a member of Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah. He was a disicple of the Saba of Slabodka and was responsible for the transfer of the yeshiva from Slobodka to Hebron and then (after the 1929 Riots) to Jerusalem. Many of his disciples became Rashei Yeshivot, rabbis, and Dayanim in Israel and around the world. Authored the books Daliyot Yechezkel on the Torah and Mussar and Beit Yechezkel on the Shas and the Rambam.
