Unique and Original Work! Scribal Script on Parchment for a Cohen on the Stand for Birkat Cohanim - Hamburg, 1745 - Fine scribal script written with ink on parchment, with a color ornate title page, ”Keter Kehuna, belongs... the bridegroom Jos [possibly, Joseph]... [the son of]... the Dayan... Michl Katz [or Shatz]... made in 1745”. Fine, orderly and professional scribal script with unique and interesting content. The manuscript is for a Cohen on the stand for Birkat Cohanim (abroad, on Moadim and Yamim Noraim), to repalce the large Siddur whicvh is more difficult to carry. This original manuscript contains the prayers said when the Cohanim are on the stand, the prayers: Vete'erav, Modim Derabbanan, Avinu Malkeinu which is said on Yamim Nora'im, Yehi Ratzon for the Cohanim, the blessings, Besefer Chaim and Hayom Te'amtzeinu. The manuscript is vowelized and contains instructions for the user. The manuscript is singned on the colophon at its end: ”ע”י הכותב והעוסק במלאכת הקודש, הקטן ישראל בן המנוח כהר”ר יאקב זצ”ל סופר סת”ם בק”ק המבורג, נעשה בשנת תק”ה לפ”ק” . We did not manage to find additional manuscripts with the name of this wonderful writer; apparently, he was the son of the famed scribe Rabbi Yakov of Berlin / Hamburg (the scrib Rabbi Yakov of Berlin operated in Hamburg during the years 1718-1741 signing his name as ”יאקב סופר בן כמוהר”ר יהודא ליב זצ”ל מברלין, לע”ע סופר סת”ם בק”ק המבורג” - the famed scribe who wrote the Hamburg 1728 and 1731 Haggadahs and his works adorn the best collections in the world. We do not know of works by him after 1741; thus, apparently his son followed in his footsteps as an artistic scribe). [7] parchment leaves. Fine, complete manuscript. Small pocket format, 11 cm. only. Bound in a contemporary leather binding - with blemishes due to use. The ink on the title page with which the original owner's name was written is partly faded and difficult to read. Color smearing in part of the decoration. Throughout the manuscript, stains and marks of usage. Good overall condition.
