Signatures and a Glosses Handwritten by Rabbi Dov Berish Meisles Av Beit Din of Warsaw and Rabbi Moshe Eliyahu Weinsberg Rav of Kerestir: Sefer Gidulei Trumah - Zholkva, 1809 - Sefer Gidulei Trumah by Rabbi Azraya Piccio, commentary on Sefer Hatrumot by Rabbi Shmuel ben Rabbi Yitzchak Hasfaradi. Zholkva 1809 edition. 4, 9, [4], 34, 66, 64 [i.e. 62], 42 [i.e. 40], 32, 19 leaves. Stains and minor blemishes. New binding with a scuff and erasure on its front. Good overall condition.  On the title page of the book, 3! handwritten signatures of Rabbi Dov Berish Meisles Av Beit Din of Warsaw: ”שייך לי הק' דוב בעריש מייזלש”; on the leaves of the book, a single gloss that was identified as handwritten by him and many other glosses, some of them lengthy and significant, handwritten by someone else unidetified by us.  In addition, on the title page there are two handwritten signatures of the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Eliyahu Weinsberg of Krakow, the Rav of Kerestir [see below] and 7 additional glosses . some of them lengthy and significant handwritten by him - an important discovery, since except for a Psak Din handwritten by him (Alei Zikaron 60)  we do not know of addiitonal Chidushei Torah by him!    Includes all the indices leaves, approbations and list of subscribers. The approbations include an approbation by the Maggid of Kozhnitz , Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot whose nephew published this book and more. The list of subscribers includes, among others, names of the Chozeh of Lublin, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov, the author of Ketzot Hachoshen and more. The Gaon Rabbi Dov Berish Meisles - the Mahardam (1798-1870) the son of Rabbi Yitzchak Meisles author of the Chosen Yeshu'ot. A leading Polish Rav in the 19th century who was known as a rare combination of a great Talmud Chacham and brave public leader. Served as Rav of the communities of Krakow and Warsaw and worked tirelessly for protecting the rights of the Jews before the Austrian and Russian authorities. Was famed for his good relationship with the authorities, his efforts to prevent the forced recruitment of young Jewish men to the army and his efforts to protect Jewish cemeteries from destruction. Author of Chidushei Mahardam on the Rambam's Sefer Hamitzvot. The Gaon Rabbi Moshe Eliyahu Weinsberg of Krakow Av Beit Din of Kerestir (1799-1847) was born in Krakow to his father Rabbi Leib. In 1830, he was appointed Rav in Kerestir, succeeding Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Katz Galantz, the son-in-law of the Aryeh Dvei Ilay. Rabbeinu the Chatam Sofer wrote of him in responses to him: ”המאור הגדול החרוץ ושנון” and elsewhere, ”המאור הגדול המופלג זית רענן פרי תואר קרא שמו מפואר”. Rabbeinu the Maharam Esh also used superlatives to describe him in a response to him. After his passing, he was succeeded by his son-in-law, Rabbi Elazar Teitelbaum of Liska of the family of the Yismach Moshe (see more in the ecxellect article by Rabbi Yoel Weinstock in Kovetz Alei Zikaron p. 11 and anward).
