Letter on Matters of Gittin Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Chassid Rabbi Mordechai Forhand of Nitra - Letter on matters of Gittin and Pilpul on Gittin name handwritten and signed by the Chassid Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Vorhand of Nitra, author of Be'er Mordechai and more. The letter is addressed to Rabbi Yosef Yisrael Deutsch, to whom he refers with many superlatives: ”מדברנא דאומתיה כ”ק מחותני הרב הגאון הגדול ציס”ע [צדיק יסוד עולם] פאר הרבנים חמדת הימים תל תלפיות שר בית הזוהר דמטמרין לי' גלי' בוצ”ק [בוצינא קדישא] רבי יוסף ישראל דייטש שליט”א אב”ד ור”מ דק”ק דיארמאט יע”א”. In his letter, he asks him to help in a matter of a Gett of a woman and discusses her name and nickname. Replacing the signature: ”נאום המשתחוה אפים ארצה חותם ביראת הכבוד ובברכת החג הקדוש הבע”ל ואבקשו להזכירני בתפילתו הזכה שאזכה להשגה בתורה מחותנו הצעיר מרדכי בן רחל”. 28X22 cm. Fold lines. Minor stains. Good overall condition.  The Gaon Chassid Rabbi Mordechai Vorhand (1886-1944) who succeeded his father, Rabbi Moshe Vorhand author of the Ohel Moshe of Makova, as Av Beit Din of Nitra. Was a disciple of his father and of Rabbi Eliezer Deutsch author of Tevu'ot Hasadeh, the Admor the Kedushat Yom Tov of Sighet and Rabbi Moshe Greenwald author of the Arugat Habosem. He followed the Admorim of Shinova and Nadvorna. Was the son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Yehuda Lichtenstein Av Beit Din of Betlan. Author of Be'er Mordechai, Kinyan Chadash and approx. 40 additional books. Corresponded with leading contemporary rabbis, who enthusiastically approbated his books. During the Holocaust, he hid in Nitra for a long time and was then deported to Zaksenhoiz, where he passed away in 1944. It is interesting to note that for health reasons, he lived some time in Italy and spent many hours in the Vatican Library, documenting manuscripts by the Rishonim he saw there and even met with the Pope, who showed him great respect.  The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yosef Yisrael Deutsch (1845-1927) the son and successor of the Goren David. Served as Rav and Rosh Yeshiva in Yarmat for approx. fifty years.
