Rare! Letter on Limud Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Arieli the Father of the Gaon Rabbi Asher Arieli Shlita to the Seridei Esh - Jerusalem, 1951 - Lengthy letter on Limud by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Arieli, addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg, author of the Seridei Esh. On one side of the letter, Rabbi Yaakov refers to a letter that the addressee had sent him and writes lengthy Divrei Torah on the matter of Me'ilah. At the end of the page, he writes: ”וכעת הנני עסוק ביישוב שיטת הגאונים שהביא הרמב”ם... והנני להציע לפני הדר”ג שליט”א מה שהעליתי בזה בעה”י”. Indeed, on verso of the leaf, he writes his opinion on the matter, ending with the words: ”אקוה שישים עינו עליהם לטובה ויכבדני בתשובתו, ברחשי כבוד ובהערצה רבה, דר”ש מרעיתי תחי'. דו”ש באה”ר יעקב אריאלי”. This important letter is the basis of what was later introduced in his book Be'er Yaakov Section I Siman 40 on Din Orlah and Revai abraod. Letters by Rabbi Yaakov are rare and have never been auctioned. [1] leaf written on both sidesw. 22X29.5 cm. Filing perforations and fold lines. Tears along the edges slightly affecting the text. Minor stains. The Gaon Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Arieli (1925-1985) the son of the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Arieli author of Einayim Lamishpat and more. The son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Asher Sternbuch (the father of maran the Gaon Av Beit Din Rabbi Avraham Sternbuch Rosh Av Beit Din of Antwerp). His sons engraved the following on his tombstone on the Mount of Olives: ”הקדיש כל ימיו לעמלה של תורה ביגיעה עצומה, בצנעה ובכל לבב”. His son is the famed Gaon Rabbi Asher Arieli Shlita Ram of the Mir Yeshiva and a contemporary leading Maggid Shi'urim.
