Lengthy Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Naftali Hacohen Shakovitzky, the Rav of Gateshead - 1947 - Lengthy letter containing, among others, a list of donors from Gatesheaf and Newcastle in England and the sums of their donations. The list of donors includes, among others, Rabbi Leib Grossnas, Rabbi Shmuel Lupian, Rabbi Moshe Schwab and Rabbi Naftali Shakovitzky himself.  Between the lines, he refers to a sickly woman who needs Heaven's mercy: ”אבקש להתפלל בישיבה”.  At the end of his letter, he mentions his yearning for the Holy Land and his desire to immigrate to it: ”מובן כי מאוד הנני משתוקק לבוא לעקור לא”י לקיים בזה מצות כבוד אם ולהתחמם מעט מאור ומחמימות משפחה חביבה וגם מגדולי א”י הידידים החביבים אבל לע”ע [לעת עתה] אין רואה עוד אפשרות הן מצד גודל ההוצאה והן מצד הקושיים בזכיות, עכ”פ [על כל פנים] נכחו כי דעתי על זה ועיני כלות לראות את אהובי נפשי וד' יתן ישועה אמיתית כללית ופרטית במהרה ולקבץ כל נדחינו ופזורינו לארצו”. Good overall condition.  Rabbi Naftali Hacohen Shakovitzky (d. 1963) the son of Rabbi Binyamon, the Maggid of Minsk, and son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Derushkevitz, Mashgiach of the Volozhin and Novhardok yeshivas. Served as Rav of Gateshead for 25 years. His son, Rabbi Mordechai,   was the rav of Arzei habirah, the Rosh Yeshiva of Pitchei Teshuvah and Rosh Kollel in Johanesburg. His son-in-law, Rabbi Bezalel Rakov, succeeded him as Rav of Gateshead. His son-in-law, Rabbi Yitzchak Greenberg, is a Mashgiach at the Lomzha Yeshiva in Petach Tikvah.  Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna - Rav Chetzkel (1890-1969) was the Rosh Yeshiva of Hebron Knesset Yisrael and a member of Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah. He was a disicple of the Saba of Slabodka and was responsible for the transfer of the yeshiva from Slobodka to Hebron and then (after the 1929 Riots) to Jerusalem. Many of his disciples became Rashei Yeshivot, rabbis, and Dayanim in Israel and around the world. Authored the books Daliyot Yechezkel on the Torah and Mussar and Beit Yechezkel on the Shas and the Rambam.
