Yesod Hayesodot of Our People for 460 Years! Partial Set of the First Edition of the Shulchan Aruch by Rabbeinu Yosef Karo - Venice 1565 ”כי על ידי ספר זה תמלא הארץ דעה את ה'” - ”And I named this book Shulchan Aruch, for in it the diligent student will find all kinds of delightful dishes, fully prepared, preserved, orderly, and clear. And I am confident, by divine grace, that through this book, the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Hashem, the small with the great, the student with the understanding one, the wise among the deaf and the skilled ... Therefore, I will spread my hands to Hashem; may He help me for the glory of His name, to be among those who turn many to righteousness, and may He grant me to begin and complete it, that it may be well-arranged in its Halacha, refined, accepted, good, and beautiful. And I am now beginning to do as I promised, and may God help me” - Rabbeinu's introduction to this book, which stirred the world and remains forever the foundation of Psikah and the pillar of instruction in every Jewish home. With excitement, we hold the first edition of one of the most important works in the Jewish library of all time: ”Shulchan Aruch, from Tur Even HaEzer / Choshen Mishpat, called Beit Yosef, authored by the Gaon... Moreinu HaRav Rabbi Yosef Karo ... son of Moreinu HaRav Rabbi Ephraim Karo... whose Torah light shines like the daylight in the city of Safed... and the springs of his Torah are spread throughout Yehuda, and in Yisrael his name is known: And he authored this book, a summary of his great work on the four Turim, which he titled Beit Yosef... so that any Mevakesh Hashem may easily find every Din in its proper form, without argument or contention, and he prepared for everyone a bed, a table, a chair, and a Menorah, by whose light they shall walk securely, for so is the teaching of Rabbi Yosef Kav VeNaki”. This is half s set, including two volumes of the first edition published by Rabbeinu the author, Rabbi Yosef Karo, in Venice in 1565. On the title page are the famous three crowns, the mark of the printer Bragadin. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod 157. 1. Section III: ”MiTur Even HaEzer ...whose work began on Nissan 11, 1565 here in the Venice...”. 79 leaves. Inclides 178 Simanim, with indices. The printers skipped the numbering of 64 and the numbering of the Simanim is 1-63, 65-178. Seder Hagett (following Siman 154) and Seder Chalitzah (following Siman 169) were not included in the numbering of the Simanim. In this copy, the title page and 15 additional leaves were completed with a photocopy. Tears affecting the text, professionally restored. Stains and some moth perforations. New, elegant leather binding. Good overall condition.  2. Section IV: ”MiTur Choshen Mishpat ...whose work began on Cheshvan 6, 1565 here in Venice...”. 165, [1] leaves. Includes 427 Simanim, with indices. The printers skipped the numbering of 56 and the numbering of the Simanim is 1055, 57-427. In this copy, the last 6 leaves which include some of the indices were completed with a photocopy. Minor blemishes to text in several places were professionally restored. Stains and some moth perforations. New, elegant leather binding.
