Fine Copy with a Handwritten Gloss: Shut Me'il Tzeddakah by Rabbi Yonah Landsofer - First Edition Prague, 1756 - Sefer Shut Me'il Tzeddakah ”authored by the lion of the group... even if his name is unknown...” - despite his name not appearing on the title page, the Gaon Rabbeinu the Noda BiYehuda writes in his approbation that the book was authored by Rabbi Yonah Landsofer.  - First edition, the Press of Rabbi Yuda and His Brother Rabbi Lipman the Sons of Moshe Bak, Prague, 1756. [6], 82 leaves. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod p. 160. Stains and minor blemishes. Late binding. Good overall condition. Fine copy.  On the margin of one leaf, a handwritten gloss - not studied.  Interesting In his introduction, the author speaks out against the social order of the Jewish community of his time, writing, among others, that ”many ordinary people boastfully publish their books... and behold... my eyes have seen among those printed works... that they have blasphemed the footsteps of our Messiah... and despite all this, I have edited these words... which are not yet ready to be published, but if I merit to complete them... it is possible that I will not refrain from publicizing them... on the condition that my name is not mentioned on them...”. However, as mentioned above, the rabbis of Prague reveal his name in their approbation, stating that ”his wisdom will sing out in the streets”.
