Collection of Seven Interesting Letters with Many Fascinating Details - All Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Deiches Av Beit Din of Leeds, England - Collection of seven interesting letters - by the famed Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Deiches one of the leading rabbis of England before the Holocaust - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Nachman Shlomo Greenshpon the Rosh Yeshiva of Etz Chaim London - Leeds, 1920s. Rabbi Deiches was a leading English Rav and Posek between the two World Wars. He became renowned when he gave a Heiter to the Mikvehs of England which were filled up with simple tap water, due to Din Zeri'ah, his claim being that water-meters were not a Kli. He partly retracted this Heiter several years later. In the letters we can find echoes of varied affairs pertaining to the Rabbinate of England. The letters also refer to varied dignitaries such as a letetr that was sent to Rabbeinu by Maran the Or Same'ach, the Gaon Rav Herzog, the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Zelig of Kock-Sokolov, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Farber and more . Enclosed with the collection is a manuscript by Rabbi Deiches - an introudction to one of his books. A total of eight items handwritten by him. Sizes vary. Good conditions. The Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Chaim Deiches (1851-1937) one of the leading English rabbis between the two World Wars. Served as Rav of Vadislav. Poland and in 1901 returned to England, where he was appointed as Av Beit Din fo Leeds, a position he held until his passing. Authored many Halachic and Aggadic books including Drashot Maharich, Netivot Yerushalayim, Mikveh Yisrael and more.
