Rare! Lengthy Letter Handwritten Entirely by the Famed Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Halevi Herzog the Chief Rabbi of Israel - from the Time He was Rav of Ireland - Dublin, 1929 - מתעסקים בסיוע הישיבה והחזרתה על מכונה  - letter by the Gaon The Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein the Rosh Yeshiva of Hebron - about aiding the yeshiva after the 1929 Riots - written approx. a month after them - Dublin, Elul, 1929.  In the letter, Rabbeinu discusses relief funds that were sent from London for the restoration of the yeshiva, which was severaly damaged during the 1929 Riots. The Yeshiva abandoned Hebron with all the Jewish residents of the town and moved to Jerusalem. There, the building of the new yeshiva started immediately by the wonderous power of Netzach Yisrael Loh Yeshaker.  Lengthy letters handwritten entirely by Rav Herzog are extremely rare!!! Fair-good condition.   The Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog (1889-1959) was the Chief Rabbi of Irish Jewry and later the Chief Rabbi of Israel, succeeding Rabbi Kook. During the Holocaust, he worked extensively to save Jews. He was the founder of the Yad HaRav Herzog Institute, which published the Talmudic Encyclopedia and was named after him after his passing. He also initiated the construction of the new building for the Chief Rabbinate, Heichal Shlomo. He authored several books, including the responsa Heichal Yitzchak and Ketavim UFsakim. The Gaon, Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, in his eulogy for him, said, ”He was a leader of Israel; he loved justice and hated evil, and he always defended the people of Israel...”.
