Not Published! Approx. a Hundred Important Glosses Handwritten by an Unfamiliar Gaon on the Work Tav Zikaron - First Ediiton Lick, 1864 - Sefer Tav Zikaron, ”containing all Dinei Halachot and Treifot and Dinei Basar Bechalav and Ta'arovot Issur and Machalot Assurot and Tevilat Keilim... all the common Dinim which are standard practice now... alphabetized...by me the young... Yitzchak Frankel. Edited by Eliezer Lipman Zilberman...”. Single edition printed by Rudolph Zilbert, Lick, 1864. [4], 48 leaves. Detached title page and flyleaf. Partly detached binding. Stains and minor blemishes. Good overall condition.  Interesting and unique work. The author's name, Yitzchak Frankel, is noted on the title page, yet not much is known about him. The publisher, Eliezer Lipman Zilberman (the founder and editor of the first Hebrew weekly, Hamaggid, and publishing house, Mekitzei Nirdamim) writes about him in his foreword: ”הספר הזה... מעשה ידי זקן שקנה תורה וחכמה, אחד מילדי ארץ רוסיא... וקניתי מננו הכתב יד... והנה מעת אשר נסע הזקן המחבר מפה לא ראיתיו עוד וגם לא שמעתי ממנו...” [This book... is the work of an elderly man who acquired Torah and wisdom, born in Russia... and I purchased the manuscript from him... And behold, from the time the elderly author traveled from here, I have not seen him again nor heard from him...].  Despite the author's anonymity, the book was approbated by the woner-worker, the Tzaddik Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher of Geeidits and the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Zvi of Kleinburg and more, who praise the book and its author/  This special copy was bound in a fomat such that following every leaf of the book there are 4 blank leaves for the owner to add his comments. Indeed, this copy contains more than 100!!! handwritten additions in eloquent, orderly script; some of them are short while others are lengthy and significant , with Piskei Halachot and varied citations indicating their writer's vast knowledge of Halachah and Psikah .  Appearing on the flyleaf is the owner's name and a notation: ”הק' ליב סגל”. On the leaves there is an addiitonal signature handwritten by him at the end of a description of a Psak he gave on matters of Shechitah, indicating that in addiiton to his genius, he apparently served as a Rav or Moreh Hora'ah. In addition, there is an ex-libris: ”מספרי יהודה בן יוסף אהרון הלוי” [from the books of Yehuda ben Yosef Aharon Halevi] - possibly the book's owner or some other person? We did not manage to find out.  We do not know much about the writer. The style of script and its content indicate that he was a Rav in Ashkenaz. The manuscript was written during the years 1864 (the year the book was published) and 1872 (the year Rabbi Yaakov Ettlinger, the author of the Aruch Laner, who is referred to by the manuscript in his lifetime, passed away).  The manusctipt refers many times to the ”Kuntres” and it is unclear to which Kuntres he is referring. The writer's father was also a Gadol in Torah and Halacha as indicated by what his son writes of him in several places: ”ופליג ע”ז אאמוזלה”ה”, ”וסברא אחרת (והיא של אאמ”ו זללה”ה) הוא...”, ”ואאז”ל רוצה להחמיר בזה...”, ”לדעת אאמ”ו זצללה”ה...”, and more. In one place, the writer refers to himself: ”מעשה שהיה בא לפני טבח... ואחר עיון רב ובהסכמת גדול שבדור השבתי... הק' ליב סגל...”. The author of the Aruch Laner is also referred to, in his lifetime: ”הרה”ג ר' יעקב עטטלינגער נ”י”.
