The ”Setam Yeinam” Polemic: Shut HaRema with the Response that was Omitted from Other Editions - Hanau, 1710 - ”Shut authored by the famed Gaon Rabbi Moshe Isserles of Krakow”, the famed work of Maran the leading Posek of Ashkenaz, Rabbi Moshe Isserles. Third edition. Edited by Henrich of Bashoisen. Hanau, 1710. 136 leaves. 20.5 cm.  Contemporary binding with wear and a blemished, incomplete leather spine. Marks of usage. Varied handwritten notations - not studied. The last page is torn, the tears affecting the text. The two leaves before the last are bound upside down. The first pages are detached. Good overall condition.  This ediiton includes the well-known response on Stam Yeinam, which is introduced in Siman 124. This repsonse was omitted from the following Amsterdam edition. Rabbeinu the Chayei Adam refers to this (Nishmat Adam, Siman 9): ”The Amsterdam ediiton omitted this response possiblly due to the instruction of the Geonim the approbators the Gaon C.Z. Hagiz and Rabbi Naftali Katz...”. Rabbeinu the Shoel Umeishiv in his approbation to the book Midrash Talpiyot also referred to this omission as did many other Acharonim.
