The Treasures of Venice - Encient Masechet Tmurah - Printed by Daniel Bomberg - Venice, 1528 - Second Edition - Bavli Talmud Masechet Tmurah - with Rashi's commentary and Tosfot - reprinted by Daniel Bomberg - Venice, 1528. Venice of the 15th century was a fertile center for the first books of Hebrew printing. Several printing houses operated in the city, exporting Sifrei Kodesh to the entire Jewish world. It is not an exaggeration to say that the vast majority of Sifrei Kodesh of that era were printed there, and certainly the Sifrei Yesod, which left their mark for hundreds of years to come. One of the most unique of these printers was the famed Daniel Bomberg, who printed in 1523 the famous edition of the Talmud, the Bomberg Shas, on which all subsequent editionsare based. About five years later, Bomberg printed a second edition of the Talmud, with editing and proofreading for all the tractates. Extremely rare! 34 leaves. The last leaf is completed with a photocopy. New, elegant leather binding. Stains, tears and moth damage affecting the text, professionally restored. Some moth perforations. Fair-good condition.
