Signature and Gloss by the Gaon Rabbi Massud Bonan - the Shadar that Met with Rabbi Yehontan Eibeschitz: Sefer Maharsha and Sefer Maharshal on the Entire Shas - Amsterdam, 1755 - ”Sefer Maharsha Chidushei Halachot authored by the Gaon... Rabbi Shmuel Eidels and Sefer Maharshal Chochmat Shlomo authored by the Gaon... Rabbi Shlomo Luria...”. Printed on the margins of the Kuntresim: Tom XIII (that is, volume 13), this book was appended to the 12 volumes of the Talmud Bavli published by the printers during the years 1752-1765. Printed in Amsterdam by the brothers Rabbi Yosef, Yaakov and Avraham, the sons of the late Rabbi Shlomo Proops Katz - 1755. [1], 300 leaves. Moth perforations throughout the entire book. Moth damage mainly to the first and last leaves. Stains and other blemishes. New binding with an original, embossed leather spine. Good overall condition.  On the title page, the signature and stamps of the Shadar the Gaon Rabbi Massud Bonan and a gloss handwritten by him on one of the leaves. Foreign stamps of Emanuel Lombaroso  - apparently, a philanthropist from Livorno who was connected to Jewish Portuguese community in Tunis.  Rabbi Massud Bonan , one of the sages of Tunis who immigrated to Tiberius in 1747. A year later, in 1748, he was sent as a Shadar to Western Europe and travelled through Italy, Holland, England and Northern Germany for four years. In Hamburg, he met Rabbi Yehonatan Eibeschitz and defended him. In 1751, when in Holland, he started a tradition by which Shabbat Shekalim was a fundraiser for Tiberius. In 1752, he returned to Eretz Yisrael and shortly later, moved to Safed and became one of its leaders.  After the earthquake in 1760, he was involved in the rehabilitation of the town. During the years 1774-1777, he was sent as a Shadar of Safed to Western Europe, where he met the Chida.
