A Startling Historical Discovery! Document Indicating the Rebbe Received a Visa to the Holy Land before His Marriage!!! Tevet 1926 - an Unknown Historical Chapter in the Rebbe's History - We are excited to reveal a document indicating an unknown historical chapter in the life of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, a startling discovery about the Rebbe's history, when it seemed that everything that could be written had already been written about him! A historical document that is revealed for the first time ever.  Tpewritten letter with handwritten additions, from Tevet 21, 1926, that was sent to Rabbi Yisrael Asher Liba [a descendant of the Admor Hazaken and relative of the Rebbe the Rayatz, an important Chabad Chassid of Jerusalem and member of the management of Kollel Chabad]. Written in the document that was sent from the Aliyah Department of HaMizrachi:  ” בהתאם לבקשתו הכנסנו את בן אחותו [ככה”נ נרשם כך כדי שהאשרה תתקבל] שניאורסון מנדל מיקטרינוסלב (רוסיה) [כיום: דניפרו במחוז דניפרופטרובסק באוקראינה - עיר הולדתו של הרבי ומגוריו באותה עת], ברשימת העולים המוזמנים ע”י קרוביהם שבארץ-ישראל וההנהלה הציונית, כאן, שלחה כבר... רשיון - כניסה עבורו לקונסול הבריטי במוסקבה... על בן אחותו לפנות לקונסול הנ”ל עם האשור הרשמי, הרצוף לזה, בכדי להשיג את הויזה לעלות לארץ ישראל... ” [In accordance with his request, we have included his nephew (apparently listed as such so the request would be accepted), Schneerson Mendel from Yekaterinoslav (Russia) [currently: Dnipro in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in Ukraine - the Rebbe's birthplace and residence at the time], in the list of immigrants invited by their relatives in the Eretz Yisrael, and the Zionist Executive here has already sent... an entry permit for him to the British Consul in Moscow... His nephew must contact the aforementioned Consul with the official permit attached herewith, in order to obtain the visa to immigrate to Eretz Yisrael...”.  This document, or any other similar to it, has never been published . We do not know any more details about this important historical document. Did the Rebbe indeed submit the request via his relative? Or was it an initiative of Rav Liba? Scholars studying the Rebbe's biography might know the answers. We, of course, cannot ask why the permit was not applied by the Rebbe.  It is interesting to note that this was approx. three years before the Rebbe and Rebbetzin's wedding, yet the Rebbe was already had deep ties to his in-law the Rebbe the Rayatz. We do not know of any reference bythe Rebbe to this matter, yet his opinion on his immigration to Eretz Yisrael has already been published. It should also be noted that Rabbi Yisrael Asher Liba worked to obtain visas for the Rebbe's parents, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak and the Rebbetzin Chana and they were indeed obtained in Tamiz 1930.
