Extremely Rare! The First Edition of Siddur Torah Or ”Prototype Edition” of Siddur Chabad 2 Sections - Vilna, 1886 - First and foremost Chabadic Siddur! The first edition of Siddur Torah Or and Sha'arei Tefillah which was later known as Sha'ar Hakollel, edited by the grandfather of the Gaon Rabbi Avraham David Lavut, who wasted no effort in this Siddur which is based on the version of the Admor Hazaken.  Two title pages, the first with color and the inscription: ”Seder Tefillah with Torah Or and Sha'arei Tefillah based on the Ari's version, Vilna the Press of the Rom Widow and Brothers in 1886”. On the title page of Section I: ”Seder Tefillot Mikol Hashanah based on the Ari version, founded by the Admor Rabbi Shneur Zalman author of the Shulchan Aruch and Tanya”.  First and rare ediiton of the Torah Or Siddur, Ari version , based on the Tikkun of the Admor Hazaken and which was determined by Rabboteinu Nessi'einu as the Chabad Siddur to this day. This edition is extremely rare and only few copies are known of it. In the National Library of Jerusalem, only section II of the Siddur exists whereas the first section is almost nonexistent.  The famed bibliographer Rabbi Yitzchak Yudlov writes about this editon (HaSiddur p. 309): ”The first edition of Siddur Torah or edited by Rabbi Avraham David Lavut, from 1886, is not in the National Library and the Shoken Library and even in the Chabad Library in New York there is no complete copy of this important Siddur” .  Rabboteinu Nessi'einu, beginning with the Rashab, used to praise this Siddur. The Rebbe the Rashab wrote in a letter to Rabbi Lavut that he enjoyed the Siddur which contains the true version (Nusach) of Admor Hazaken . The Rebbe the Rayatz in a letter to the 1941 edition of the Siddur worte about its importance, asking to use this edition of Siddur for prayer. The Rebbe writes in his Igrot Kodesh (VI p. 320): ” Siddur Sha'ar Hakollel which is the most precise... ”.  The Chabadic scholar Rabbi Yehoshua Mondshine also writes (ibid. p. 73) that this Siddur is considered the most precise one we have.  Siddur Torah Or, the work of Rabbi Avraham David Lavutt, Rav of Nikolaev and great-grandfather of the Rebbe of Lubavitch. Two sections with separate title pages. Section I:  Siddur Baal HaTanya with Hagahot of the Tzemach Tzeddek as printed in the first editions with the addition of Torah Or - sources for verses from Tanach included in the Siddur. Section II: various prayers which did not appear in the first Siddurim, with the work Sha'arei Tefillah, as well as details and sources of Dinim of the Admor HaZaken which appeared in Section I. First edition, Rom Press, Vilna - 1886. Two title pages for Section I, one of them in color. Separate title page for Section II . 187, [1]; [2], 5-40, 15, 21, 77 leaves. Some moth perforations and damage. Minor stains. Ancient leather binding with blemishes. Good condition.  Bound at the end of the book is Sefer Yesod HaAvodah, a Chassidic commentary on the Siddur Tefillah by Rabbi Yeshaya Borochowitz. First edition, Warsaw 1890. The author writes in his introduction: “and when it came to be that I had no sons…it arose in my heart to request remedies of chazal, so that one who has suffered (chavilot) could array against them chavilot (groups) of mitzvot…and for that purpose we brought into print a collection gathered from those who collected the Torat HaBesht and that of his students who drank from his waters”. On the lower part of each page, there are sources for the Divrei Torah on that page, works such as: Avodat Yisrael, Zot Zikaron, Likkutei Amarim, Toldot, Kedushat Levi, Or HaMeir, Ore’ach LaChaim, Duda’im BaSadeh, and many others by the Baal Shem Tov's disicples.
