Two Letters by the Admor Rabbi Yitzhak Abuchatzeira, the Baba Khaki - Ramla, 1966 - Letter of recommendation for the HaMizrachi Movement - with the handwritten signature of the Tzaddik the Meluban Rabbi Yitzhak Abuchatzeira, the Baba Khaki, the brother of the Baba Sali - Ramla, 1966. Rabbeinu wrote his letter at the request of Rabbi Dr. Yaakov Weinstein, one of the leaders of HaMizrachi, with the aim of soliciting donations from North African Jews living abroad for the institutions of HaMizrachi and Hapoel HaMizrachi. The Admor, the Baba Khaki, warmly describes the activities of HaMizrachi in Israel: ”And they spare no effort to raise the glory of the Torah; there are yeshivas in every single place, developing and expanding daily, from which have emerged and continue to emerge Geonim and Yirei Shamayim who follow in the path of the three Patriarchs...”. The Baba Khaki ends his letter with warm blessings to the donors and supporters, by merit of his grandfather, the Abir Yaakov: ”בזכות א”י וצדיקיה ובזכות מרן המקובל מר' זקני ”אביר יעקב” זצ”ל ובשכר זה, תתברכו בתלת מלי דטב בני סמכי וחיי אריכי ומזוני אלימי...”. Enclosed is another small letter handwritten and signed by the Baba Khaki to the above Rav. *** Admor Rabbi Yitzhak Abuchatzeira, the Baba Khaki (1895-1970), of the Abuhatzira family of Morocco, the brother of the Baba Sali. Served as Rav in Morocco and then as the Chief Rabbi of Ramla-Lod. He was renowned as a wonder-worker. He was killed in a car accident on his way back from Netivot, after visiting his brother the Baba Sali. 20,000 people attende dhis funeral including President Zalman Shazar, the Chief Rabbis Yitzchak Nissim and Isser Yehuda Unterman and the Military Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Shlomo Goren. Was buried in Ramla.
