The Shelah HaKaddosh of the Gaon Rabbi Daniel Prusstitz Rosh Av Beit Din of Pressburg in the Period of the Chasam Sofer: Shnei Luchot Habrit - Frankfurt an der Oder, 1717 - Sefer Shnei Luchot Habrit, the famed book by Rabbi Yeshaya Helci Horowitz who was known after this book as the Shelah HaKaddosh. Frankfurt an der Oder 1717 edition. Incomplete copy- originally: [3], 422; 44 leaves. Originally, there were two title pages for Section I. In this copy, the illustrated title page is missing and the copy ends with leaf 210. The first 2 leaves were cleaned and restored. Leaves 118-119 have tears along the edges. Some moth damage. Stains. Good overall condition. Bound in a fine new half-leather binding.  On the title page, a notation handwritten and signed by the Gaon Rabbi Daniel Prusstitz: ””שאולה בידי מהמנוח כ”ה יודא דעם דאקטער ז”ל, ועתה שייך הספר הזה או לאשתו מ' רבקה תי' או לחתנו הק' איצק ברי”ל. דניאל” [I have borrowed it from the late Yuda dem Doctor and now th ebook belongs or to his wife M. Rivkah or to his son-in-law Itzak Brill. Daniel]. Inside the lower decoration, signature: ”יהודא דאקטער”. See in the Pinkas Mohel Chatam Sofer (p. 125): Rabbi Yitzchak Itzak Brill... son-in-law of Rabbi Yehuda ben Rabbi Avraham Michael Rofe... who signed the Ketav Rabbanut of the Chasam Sofer from 1807”.  The Gaon Rabbi Daniel Prusstitz (1759–1846), Gedol Hador, Rosh Av Beit Din of Pressburg, under the guidance and supervision of the Gaon, Maran the Chasam Sofer. From his youth, his name was known for his immense stature in Torah learning, his extraordinary piety, and his dedicated Avodat Hashem. The Kesav Sofer in the name of his father stated that even in his youth, Rabbi Daniel was renowned for his lofty vistues and knowledge of Torah. After successfully serving as a Dayan of the Beit Din of Rabbi Meshulam Igra, he was appointed to serve as the Rosh Av Beit Din of the town. Rabbeinu stood faithfully by the Chasam Sofer in leading the Pressburg community. Despite numerous offers to become Rav of other communities across Europe, Rabbi Daniel chose to remain loyal to Pressburg and his role there. With a pure heart and profound humility, he continued to deliver lessons in Torah and Mussar, raising many students who would later become Gedolei Torah. Authored many works including the famed Machaneh Dan on Masechet Pesachim. He also worked to publish Rabbeinu Tam's book, Sefer HaYashar. Six years after the passing of his leading Rav, the Chasam Sofer, Rabbi Daniel returned his pure soul to his Creator in 1846, at the age of eighty-seven. He was buried next to his Rav's grave, the Kesav Sofer tearfully eulogizing him. The glorious titles engraved upon his tombstone include:  ”איש אלוקים, תפארת הדור, נזר החכמים, צדיק נשגב, סיני ועוקר הרים”.
