Pieces of History from the Chernobyl Beit Midrash of Safed - Original Handwritten Broadsides from the 1900s-1920s - Rare collection of broadsides that hang in the Beit Midrash of the Chernobyl Chassidim in Safed founded by Rabbi Aharon Chernobler. Scribal script on paper: 1. Broadside about the conditions for borrowing books from the Beit Midrash ”to notify our brothers, those who pray at the Kloiz of the Admor of Chernobyl...that we the members of the Kloiz have toiled... and bound and repaired the Shas books and other books... we have agreed that anyone who needs a Gemore or some other book... should notify one of the following three people: 1) The Gabai the Naggid the Chassid Reb Yechiel of Shag [Sharigrad]. 2) The Naggid Chassid Reb Yisrael Ber the Shatz [he is the signatory Rabbi Yisrael David Chazan]. 3. The important Rav Reb Yosef Zeev Shapira... to all this we have agreed together on Cheshvan 18, 1903. Safed”. The document is signed by 4 signatories; of them we identified the signatures of Rabbi Yisrael David Chazan and Rabbi Moshe Zvi Lahr. The other signatories are apparently Rabbi Yechiel Sharigrader and Rabbi Yosef Zeev Wolf Shapira of Safed. Placed in a metal frame that had rusted and caused rust stains on the paper as well.  2. An additional braodside about borrowing books from 1906. Unfortunately, the signatures have faded over the years and are unidentifiable. In a rusty metal farme.  3. ”Notice and warning, we the undersigned... the worshipers of the Chernobyl Beit Midrash have decided to forbid having weddings inside this Beit Midrash... Thursday, Tisgrei 27, 1925. Safed”. The document is signed by Kehat Halevi who was Dayan and Moreg Tzeddek in Minth Hager, Aharon Sh, uel Bris, Leib Stern, Shmelki Blitegil, Chaim Baruch...? Yosef Zvi Geiger, Baruch Ashkenazi.  Size and condition vary.
