Unique Color Ketubah from Mashhad Iran Made like a Kuntres and Decorated with Many Gilt Decorations - Mashhad, 1898 - Impressive Ketubah with many gilt decorations - written for the bridegroom Meir ben Eliezer and the bride Sarah bat Yehuda - Mashhad, 1898.  The Ketubot of Mashhad are unique in their artistic wealth, which includes complex gilt decorations and color ones. Following the phenomenon of Anussei Mashhad, some Jewish residents of the town used to write two Ketubot: one in Arabic for the formal Islamic procedure and anotger, in Hebrew, which was written in secret.  ”An interesting detail - the Ketubot of the Anussei Mashhad exceed in the wealth of their color composiiton and their size the Ketubot of other Persian communities...” (Davidovich, Haketubah BeIturim, p. 29).  4 leaves, 6 written and illustrated pages.  13X22 cm.  Original pink cover.
