Fascinating Piece of History! Memo and Letter about the Admor of Yablona Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Yeshaya Shapira the Admor Hechalutz - Jerusalem, 1926 - Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Yeshaya Shapira the Admor Hechalutz and a lengthy memo with his handwritten signature - about the settlements of Nachalat Yitzchak and Avdat Yisrael established by the Rebbe of Yablona - with historical information about the struggles between the Zhionist, the Chareidim and Po'alei Agudah in the 1920s - Jerusalem, 1926.  Background: In 1925 (5685), the Yabloner Rebbe (the grandson of the Rabbi Yechezkel of Kozhmir) immigrated to the Eretz Ysrael with a large group of dozens of his Chassidim, to establish a Jewish agricultural settlement in the Holy Land. This Aliyah was met with disapproval from the Chassidic leaders in Poland, who feared the spirit of secularism that had spread throughout the Land and its settlements. The group founded two settlements in the Jezreel Valley, named Nachalat Yaakov and Avodat Yisrael, which eventually merged into the community known today as Kfar Chassidim. Ultimately, those fears were realized: the majority of the settlements was swept up by Zionist movements, and of its original founders, only a few individuals remained who stayed true to the path of the Torah. This is a letter that was sent by the Admor Hechalutz, Rabbi Yeshaya Shapira, to Zionist leaders, complaining about its cold treatment of the new settlements. The letter echoes the Zionist propaganda, superlarives and concepts that characterize the period... ”Everyone saw in this phenomenon the beginning of a new chapter in the work of settlement... transforming urban shopkeepers, family men steeped in the life of the Polish towns, into people who work the land with enthusiasm and total Mesirut Nefesh... If we all marvel at the Chalutzim, all the more so is there reason to marvel at what has been achieved in these two Chassidic settlements... especially while the settlement attempt of Agudat Yisrael made recently to compete with this enterprise and diminish its value in the eyes of the Chareidi world is withering and collapsing...These pioneers of the Admorim have shown, over the course of a year and a half, a great measure of suffering and pure devotion that is no less valuable than that of the Biluim in their day... And now, distinguished gentlemen... an incorrect assessment or a negligent attitude toward this enterprise could, Heaven forbid, lead to its failure and decay”.  Fascinating document about the history of the settlements, Agudat Yisrael, and Chareidi Chovevei Zion! The lot includes two items:  ~ Letter signed by Rabbi Yeshaya Shapira the Admor Hechalutz in which he writes that he is sending a memo about ”the settlement of the Chassidim and the demnds of the present situation”.  ~ The memo - 4 typewritten leaves signed by Reb Binyamin and Rabbi Yeshaya Shapira.  22X29 cm.  Filing perforations. Creases. Good condiiton.  *** Rabbi Yeshayahu Shapira (1891-1945) refused to serve as Admor despite those who desired it because he wished to immigrate to Eretz Yisrael. He was known for his great love for settling the Land of Israel and he worked to bring religious Jews to establish Moshavim there. He was a founder of Mizrachi in Poland and HaPoel HaMizrachi in Eretz Yisrael. He was known as the Admor Hechalutz.
