Interesting Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer - Jerusalem, 1942 - Interesting and unusual letter of recommendation - by Maran the Gaon Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer , author of Even HaEzel, about the Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua Zelig Diskin Av Beit Din of Pardes Chanah - Jerusalem, 1942.  In his letter, the Even HaEzel refers to the joint letter of his and the rabbis of Russia about aiding Rabbi Yehoshua Zelig Diskin (the father-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Gershon Edelstein), adding words of encouragement while using unusually demanding language: ”שישים לב מעלת האיש הגדול והדגול בכל מעלה... ”אם ת”ח הוא צריך שיחלה עצמו עליו” ולהתאמץ בכל עוז...”. Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer trully took this case to heart, so much so that he uses a non-typical sharp expression: ”שלא יהיה דוקא איש גדול בתורה ובכל מעלה מקופח, והנני חושב שזה יהיה עלבון גדול להמזרחי אם יעשו דבר כזה...”. 12 lines handwritten and signed by him!
