Rare! Letter of Request for Accepting a Bachur into the Yeshiva - Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Guttman Mashgi'ach of the Ohel Torah Yeshiva of Baranovich -1932 - Interesting letter handwritten and signed by the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Guttman - Mashgi'ach of the Ohel Torah Yeshiva of Baranovich - the yeshiva of Maran Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko, the Rosh Yeshiva of Monterey- Baranovich, 1932.  In his letter, the Mashgi'ach pleads with Rabbi Eliyahu to accept a Bachur, resident of Baranoich, into his yeshiva. Rabbi Guttman promises to pay $10 per month for his living. He pleads with Rabbi Botchko: ”אך שיסתופף בצלו להגות בתורת ד'... שייטיב נא בזה ולהציל נפש אחת מישראל להכניסו תחת כנפי השכינה, וזכותו יהי' גדול מאד... אחשוב כי ישים מענה לדברי אלה, ויחוש להצלתו...” [But rather that he find refuge in his shadow to study Torat Hashem... may he act kindly in this and save one Jewish soul, bringing him under the wings of the Shechinah, and his merit shall be exceedingly great... I trust that he will respond to these words of mine and hasten to his rescue].  Letters by Rabbeinu the Mashgi'ach are extremely rare! Official stationery of the Ohel Torah Yeshiva of Baranovich.  22X28 cm.  Stains. A small tear not affecting the text. Good condition.  The Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Guttman (perished in the Holocaust) served as Rav of Cahill, Kherson district. A meeting with the Sabba Rabbi Yozel of Novhardok changed his life and he began teaching Torah and establishing yeshivas in Russia.  Later he was appointed the spiritual manager of the Ohel Torah Yeshiva of Baranovich, eventually becoming the right hand man of Rabbeinu the Gaon Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman. Often, he also replaced a Ram who was missing. He was also the prayer leader of the Yamim Nora'im Minyan of the yeshiva. The students of the yeshiva stated that ”they will never forget his sweetness, empathy and excitment during the prayer”. His grandsons include the Gaon Rabbi Ben Zion Pelman and the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Yisroel Yisraelson.
