”To Be One of the Gedolei Torah” Rare Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Gaon Rabbi Nachum Baruch Ginzburg the Mekor Baruch - Janowa, 1937 - Interesting letter - handwritten by the famed Gaon Rabbi Nachum Baruch Ginzburg author of the Mekor Baruch - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko the Rosh Yeshiva of Monetery - Janowa, 1937. In his letter, Rabbeinu writes to him about two Bachurim from Janowa, one named Leib Lifshitz, who was planning to travel to Switzerlan to the Monterey Yeshiva: ”אקווה אם ישקוד על דלתי התורה יוכל בעזה”י.. חיל גדול ולהיות לאחד מגדולי התורה וכאשר כת”ר יתוודע אליו יראה כי ברכה בו..” [I hope that if he studies Torah diligently, he might become one of the Gedolei Torah and when his honor gets to know him, he will see that he is blessed]. About the second Bachur, Rabbi Ginzburg writes that he is ready and willing to leave, yet does not have the means to do so: ”אפס כי אין כסף לאדון זה לכלכל ההוצאה הגדולה הדרושה מהכא להתם, אולי יש באפשרות כת”ר לעזור לו בהוצאותיו...”. Good condition. *** The Gaon Rabbi Nachum Baruch Ginzburg (1882-1941) the last Rav of Janowa, the head of the Union of Rabbis of Lithuania and author of the Mekor Baruch series of books. During the Holocaust, he was murdered by a Lithuania Fascist and his body was miraculously found several years later.
