Fine Letter by the Students of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Montreux with the Signature of Maran the Gaon Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman - Montreux, 1937 - Letter in fine scribal script - by doznes of students and teachers of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Montreux - addressed to their famed teachar and Rav Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko - with the signature of Maran the Gaon  Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman - Montreux, 1937.  The Etz Chaim Yashiva of Montreux was founded by the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko in Montreux beside the lake of Geneva, Switzerland, in 1927. For years it was a haven for young men who esacped to it for fear of being recruited in the Polsih army, the more so during the Holocaust.  This was also the story of Maran Rabbi Shteinman, who escaped from Poland in 1937. With his arrival at the yeshiva, he was appointed Ram alongside his friend the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Soloveitchik.  This letter, which was written by a scribe, is addressed to Rabbi Botchko and his wife, who were on a vacation at the time. In their letter, the teachers and students of the yeshiva  express their cordial greetings and their sorrow for not being able to hear the Rav's lessons. They send their regards to his wife the Rebbetzin.  Interesting! The letter is signed by Maran Rabbi Shteinman who used his previous family name, Steinman, which he changed in hope of escaping recruitment in this way.  The letter is hand-signed by the teachers and students of the Yeshiva, on both sides of the leaf, a total of 39 names.  A piece of pure love of the Torah, which has an imporatnt historical value, bearing the scent of the miracle of the rescue, a unique Yeshiva and the history of Bnei Yeshivot during the Holocaust in burning Europe.  Official stationery of the Montreux Yeshiva.  21X28 cm.  Fold lines.
