First Edition of Sefer Peirot Genosar by Rabbeinu the Author of the Or Hachaim Hakadosh with Signatures of the Gaon Author of the Arugot Habosem and His Father - First Edition in the Author's Lifetime Amsterdam, 1742 - Sefer Peirot Genosar - by Rabbeinu the Author of the Or Hachaim Hakadosh - Rabbi Yosef Dayan Press - Amsterdam, 1742 - first edition in the author's lifetime! Stefansky Sofrei Yesod 171 in the footnotes.  Sefer Peirot Genosar on Shulchan Aruch Yoreg Deah. Containing two ”Peirot”” Pri Chadash by Rabbeinu Chizkiya da Silva and Pri To'ar by Rabbi Chaim Ben Atar author of Or Hachaim. The book was printed by Rabbi Chaim Ben Atar and since his work Pri To'ar contained many Hasagot on the Pri Chadash, he included his work with the Pri Chadash commentary. This edition is the first one of Peirot Genisar and was published in Rabbeinu Hakadosh' lifetime. The next edition contained only the Pri To'ar and that was also the book's title.  There is no need to describe Rabbeinu Chaim Ben Atar's sanctity. Thousands study his Divrei Torah weekly, many of them making sure they study every week the entire Or Hachaim on the Parashah. The Baal Shem Tov said of him that he hears Torah every night from Hakadosh Baruch Huh. Therefore, his books are considered by Tzaddikim and Chassidim as first-rate Sifrei Kodesh and they are said to have Hashpa'ah of Kedushah and Taharah on the learner's soul. The Divrei Chaim of Sanz wrote that the Or Hachaim surely authored his book with the Ru'ach Hakodesh and anyone who denies this is a heretic.  Appearing on the title page of the book is the signature of the famed Gaon Rabbi Amram Greenwald and of his son, the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Greenwald the author of the Arugot Habosem.  Additional signature and several glosses including a lengthy one in Eastern script.  [4], 275 leaves. Good overall condition.  *** The Gaon Rabbi Moshe Greenwald author of the Arugot Habosem (1853-1910) ”Rabbi Moshe ben Amram”, Gedol Hador and one of the contemporary leaders of Hungarian Jewry. Was a disciple of Maran the Kesav Sofer. In his yeshiva, the Arugos Habosem studied with his friend the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld. Served as Rav of Homna and Kleinwardein and eventually Chust. In Chust, he expanded the yeshiva, which had thousands of students. His sons and sons-in-law continued the tradition of holding rabbinic positions in varied Hungarian communities. The most famed of them is the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Chizkiyah Greenwald, the first Admor of Papa.
