Extremely Rare! Letter with the Handwritten Signature of the Admor Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Leifer of Chust the Son of Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna - ”והנני כמתתע בדבר הזה”  - interesting letter by the Rav and wonder-worker Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Leifer the first Admor of Chust - addressed to the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Brody Av Beit Din of Prague - Chust, 1910s.  The Admor wrote his letter in response to Rabbi Brody's request to learn more about a Jew whom Rabbeinu had recommended. The Admor replies that he is familiar with the man's familial background and that his son recommended him, yet he does not know him personally.  Nevertheless, Rabbeinu wrote him a letter of recommendation and had loaned him a large sum of money for his expenses and of course, never heard from him again: כתבתי לו מכתב מליצה שכת”ה יעמוד לימינו - ואח”ז ביקש מאיתי הלואה איזה מאות כתרים כי צריך לו על הוצאות.. וגם זאת נתתי לו ומאז ועד עתה לא באו מעותי וגם אין לי שום ידיעה מאיתו...” . An interesting item indicating the Admor's wonderous Hanhagot.  Extremely rare! To the best of our knowledge, letters by the Admor have never been auctioned!!! [1] leaf.  21X17 cm.  Fold lines and minor stains.  *** The Admor the Rav and wonder-worker Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Leifer (1857-1929) the first Admor of Chust, the son of Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna. Was renowned as an Ish Elokim and Baal Mofet who before his wedding already knew the entire Shas. By his father's instruction, he led the community of Chernovich in his father's lifetime. Then, he moved to Chust, where he became known as a wonder-worker and thousands came to him for a blessing. The Rav of the town, the Maharitz Dushinsky, revered him and used to send him people who needed prayers. Rabbi Dushinsky once told the Admor Rabbi Yissachar Ber of Nadvorna: ”Two Tzaddikim were thought highly by us, Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov of Chust and Rabbi Yechezkel Sheraga of Shinova” . He also told him, ”Your uncle Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov no one could look at, since he shone” .
