An additonal notation about the book belonging to Rabbeinu.  *** The Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke Toivash (1808-1865), the Rav of Jassy (Iași). The son of Rabbi Aharon Moshe, the Rav of Jassy and author of To'afot Re'em and Karnei Re'em. Succeded his father as Rav of Jassy. Authored many books including Chayei Olam on the Shulchan Aruch and the Torah, Milchamot Hashem on the Passover Haggadah, Olelot Shmuel on the Torah and more. His glosses on the Shas were printed at the end of the Vilna Shas and became an invaluable asset on the Bavli Talmud.  His descendants also served as rabbis of varied communities including Maran Rabbi Mordechai Leifer of Nadvorna.
