Rare Letter of Support for Kolel Galicia - Handwritten and Signed by the Admor the Author of the Shefa Chaim of Sanz-Klausenberg - ”The Chibat Yerushalayim Kollel for Anshei Galicia”  - rare and important letter of support - handwritten and signed by the famed Admor Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam of Sanz-Klausenberg - the founder of the Sanz Chassidut in Israel - Jerusalem, 1957.  Background: Kolel Galicia - one of the Kolels of Jerusalem, which was historically divided by regions, with each Kolel representing a different area of the Jewish Diaspora. For example, Kolel Shomrei HaChomot for those of Hungarian descent, Kolel Reisin, and so forth. Kolel Galicia is unique in that its activities have continued uninterrupted for nearly two hundred years. It was led by the Divrei Chaim, his son the Rav of Shinova, and his other sons and  descendants, as well as the Belz Rebbes throughout the generations. As the Shefa Chaim writes in his letter: ”From that sacred charity which my sacred ancestors, may their merit protect us, stood at the head of its supporters” .  Further in the letter, Rabbeinu encourages his Chasidim and followers to support this important endeavor and blesses them: ”He who has mercy on [G-d's] creatures, mercy is shown to him from Heaven; may they be blessed with an abundance of all good things forever, until we merit the coming of our Messiah speedily in our days, Amen Ken Yehi Ratzon” .  An important letter for the history of Sanz, Kolel Galicia and the history of the Kolelim of Jerusalem in general.  [1] leaf. 22X14 cm. Fold lines and minor stains.  *** The Admor Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam (1904-1994)  the son of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Rodnik, the grandson of the Admor Rabbi Baruch of Gorlitz and great-grandson of the Divrei Chaim of Sans. He was a disciple of Rabbi David Zvi Zehman of Dukla and the son-in-law of Rabbi Chaim Teitelbaum of Sighet, the Atzei Chaim. He served as Rav of Klausenberg in 1926, of a separate community which objected to the Zionist tendencies of the local Rav Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Glazner. He was accepted as Rav of Rodnik as successor to his father but he did not move there. He survived  the Holocaust but his wife and 11 children were murdered. After the Holocaust, he worked to strengthen religious life in the DP camps. He immigrated to New York in 1947 and to Union City, where he set up his yeshiva.His second marriage was to the daughter of Rabbi Shmuel David Unger of Nietra. He immigrated to Israel and established Kriyat Sanz in Netanya in 1960. Was renonwen as a great Talmud Chacham who was knowledgeable in all secrets of the Torah. Most of his works were lost during the Holocaust. He authored the Shefa Chaim, Yehi Or, and Shut Divrei Yatziv. He established the Mifal HaShas to encourage repetitive learning of the Shas. He coined the title of Moreinu, which to this day, every Avrech of his community receives when he knows around 1000 leaves of Shas. He worked to institute the Shita of Rabbeinu Tam with Shki'ah and Bein Hashmashot, and established the Laniado Hospital in Netanya.
