Rare! With the Opening Leaf with Photocopies of Letters: ULehatzdik Tzaddik Booklet - the Dispute between the Rashban Schück and the Levushei Mordechai of Mád - Single Edition, Sasfalau, 1912 - ULehatzdik Tzaddik, a polemical booklet in Hebrew and German written by Rabbi Berachya Schück, the Rav of the Oit Arta community of Temshvar (Timișoara).  It attempts to justify his father, Rabbi Shlomo Zvi Schück, Av Beit Din of Kortzog, Hungary, against attacks printed by the Rav of Mád, Rabbi Mordechai Leib Winkler, in his book Shut Levushei Mordechai. Single edition, Sasfalau, 1912. [1], 8 pp. + folding leaf. Some moth perforations. Stains. Detached title cover. Good overall condition.  This copy has the original title cover and a rare opening leaf that does not exist in all copies with a photocopy of ”a letter by the Rav of Takai [Rabbi David Schück of Takai - Rabbi Shlomo Zvi's uncle] and a letter by the Rav of Mád [Rabbi Mordechai Leib Winkler]”. *** Rabbi Shlomo Zvi ben Natan Schück - the Rashban (1844-1916) was the Rav of Kortzog, Hungary. He demonstrated independent views and was considered a moderate and open Orthodox rabbi (an unusual figure in the Hungarian landscape), which drew criticism from some of the Hungarian rabbis such as the Rabbi of Mád, who even wrote this criticism down in his book Levushei Mordechai. This booklet was written by his son to defend his father against the insult. Rabbi Schück published many rabbinical works and articles in Hebrew, German, and Yiddish journals. His works include Siddur Rashban: A New Commentary, Sefer Shut Rashban and more.
