Rare! Two Leaves of the First Edition of Sefer HaTanya in the Lifetime of Its Author the Admor Hazaken - The Press of Rabbi Moshe Shapira Slavita 1796 - A unique and extremely rare item!  Two leaves, leaf 5 and leaf 8, of the first edition of Sefer HaTanya by the Admor Hazaken. An extremely rare edition that was printed at the sacred printery of Rabbi Moshe Shapira of Slavita - the son of Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz.  In 1796, the Admor Hazaken sent the Tanya to the printery in Slavita with the approbations of the disciples of the Maggid of Mezeritch, Rabbi Zusha of Anipoli and Rabbi Yehuda leib Hacohen. The printing ended on Kilsev 20, 1796. On Kislev 26, the first copies of the book reached the Admor Hazaken.  It is interesting to note that this edition was published anonymously; nevertheless, it is the most important one, being not only the first but the one that was not censored as were the following editions of the book.  2 leaves - leaf 5 and leaf 8.
