Letter by the Mashpi'a Rabbi Shaul Dover Zislin from the Time He was Rav of Orsha - 1934 - Letter handwritten and signed by the Mashpi'a Rabbi Shaul Dover Zislin from the time he was Rav of Orsha ( a city in the Vitebsk Region, Belarus). Sent to Eretz Yisrael to his friend the famed Chassid Rabbi Menachem Mendel Novikov, from Nissan 13, 1934.  [1] leaf, written on both sides. Approx. 20X14 cm. Fold lines. A hole in the center slightly affecting the text. Good overall condition.  Rabbi Shaul Dover Zislin (1881-1964) an important Chabadic Rav and Mashpi'a in Israel and one of the founders of the Union of Chabad Chassidim in Israel. Was considered one of the leaders of the Chabad community in Israel in general and Tel Aviv in particular. In 1936, Rabbi Zislin suggested to the Admor the Rayatz to write down sheet music of the varied Chabadic Nigunim, on which Sefer Hanigunim was later based. In 1949, Rabbi Zislin came up with the idea of establishing a settlement for the Chabad Chassidim who were immigrating to Israel; the idea was later realized with the establishment of Kfar Chabad.  The addressee: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Novikov (1867-1943), a Shochet and Bodek and Chassidic Baal Shmu'ah who operated first in Edirne, Turkey and in his old age, in the Chabadic community of Tel Aviv and Bnei Beral. He immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1933, settling in Tel Aviv and later in Bnei Berak. He passed away in Shvat 1943 and was buried in the Chabad burial plot on the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem, near the grave of his uncle, the Gaon Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Lublin.
