Interesting and Unusual Letter with the Rebbe's Blessings for a Joyous Purim and Varied Points regarding the Shlichut Work in Europe - Adar II 1978 - Typewritten letter on the Rebbe's official stationery from Adar II 4, 1978, Brooklyn, New York, Beit Chayeinu 770, with the original envelope.  At the beginning of his letter, the Rebbe expresses his appreciation for the addressee's favorable impressions of the Lubavitch activities in London. The addressee had suggested to have a similar set-up in Antwerp, Belgium. The Rebbe, however, states that sending emissaries ”is not an easy matter, both for lack of manpower as well as the considerable expenses that it would entail”. He also notes that Antwerp has a strong Orthodox community that can make efforts to spread Yiddishkeit. Yet, the Rebbe also states that ”should there be any changes, the situation could be reconsidered”.  The Rebbe then writes that since the addressee's donation ”is authorized to be used for any Lubavitch activity, it has been earnarked for the Purim Campaign, which is particularly timely at this time”. The Rebbe blesses that ”may the Zechus of it [the donation] stand you and yours...”.  To conclude, the Rebbe wishes the addressee and all his ”a joyous and inspiring Purim”.  After the Rebbe's English signature, the Rebbe added an interesting addition: On the basis of your letter, it is surely unnecessary to urge you to help even more the activities of Lubavitch in your city, especially in keeping with the rule of our Sages, ”The needy of your town have first preference”.  The letter: 28X21.5 cm.  The envelope: the Rebbe's official aerogram, vearing a New York postmark dated April 4, 1978 and a 31 cent American stamp.  Tears to envelope. There is a blue ink stain on the letter and the envelope not affecting the central text or the signature. Fold lines. Good overall condition.
