Tzuker shel Pesach - Unknown Broadside by the Rabbis of Ungvar - Hungary, 1936 - Early and rare Kashruth broadside dealing with the Kashruth of sugar for Passover, issued by the National Bureau of Carpathian Russia whose residence was in Uzhorod (Ungvar). Uzhorod, Shevat 5, 1936.  The broadside is signed by the rabbis and leaders of the Jews of Carpathian Russia : the Oivarosher Rov, the Gaon Rabbi Oizer Hacohen Fried (the son of the author of the Torat Yaffe and grandson of the author of the Pnei Mevin); the leader of the Hust community, Rabbi Binyomin Davidovitsh; and Rabbi Zvi Shohnberger, one of the leaders of Orthodox Jewry of the area.  This broadside deals with the issue of sugar loaves , which were commonly processed using a substance known as Ultramarine, which was prohibited by leading contemporary rabbis. This issue was extensively debated in the responsa of contemporary Poskim, including the Gaon of Munkatch and the Divrei Yechezkel of Shinova, who dealt with the question of the Kashruth of Ultramarine for Passover. Since the prohibition was announced shortly before Passover, the rabbis limited its application to healthy individuals only. Those who were ill were instructed to consult a Rav. Furthermore, the rabbis permitted the use of wine that had already been mixed with this type of sugar. However, they explicitly announced that this Heter was granted for this year only, and that in the coming year, everyone would be required to purchase sugar under rabbinical supervision . To the best of our knowledge, this broadside is bibliographically unknown and had not been pulished.  One leaf, 15X23 cm.  Very good condition, with minor creases.
