Special Haggadah for Women! Large and Impressive Haggadah in Hungarian - Kecskemét, 1937 - Rrae and unique Haggadah, large format. Except for the Hebrew text of the Haggadah, the entire Haggadah, the commentaries, Halachot and even the captions beneath the many illustration, are all in HUngarian. Kecskemét, 1937.  The Haggadah was printed especially for women who did not know Hebrew and spoke only the language of the country. Printed at the top of the title page: ”כה תאמר לבית יעקב אלו הנשים - משכו וקחו לכם ספר הגדה של פסח”. The version of the tatile page:  ”עם העתקות ופירושים בלשון הגרי... מאמרי חז”ל בעניני יציאת מצרים, הלכות ומנהגי הסדר, וסובב הולך ליקוט מסיפוריי[!] הפלאות... הכל עשיתי ... בלשון הגרית המדברת... אנכי... מרדכי בן ישראל שליט”א אבראהאם מילדי ק”ק אונגוואר, ח”פ [חונה פה] קעטשקעמעט...” [with Hungarian translations and commentaries...Mamarei Chazal on the Exodus from Egypt, Halachot and Minhagim of the Seder... in Spoken Hungary... by Nordechai ben Yisrael Shlita Avraham of Ungvar, now here in Kecskemét...]/  ”Legendas Hagada. With a new Hungarian translation and abundant explanations of the story of the exodus from Egypt, based on the tradition of the Midrashic legend literature, written by: Abraham Marton...”].  In Hungary of those days, fierce struggles raged against the Reform movement, which sought to undermine the foundations of religion. Consequently, anything different or unusual was met with great suspicion, particularly in light of the famous ruling by the Chasam Sofer: ”Chadash Assur min HaTorah”. Possibly, this is why the approbation of the Gaon Rabbi Fischel Sofer Sussman [the important dynasty in Hungary following that of the Chasam Sofer's family] appears at the beginning of the Haggadah. The approbation states that the author is Yere Shamayim ”and I have known him to be Ish Emunim and his only intention is to merit the many”.  70, [1] pp. 30 cm.  Very good condition.
